Paul Arriola Signs with DC United as a Young Designated Player
22-year-old US Men’s National Team midfielder Paul Arriola has signed with DC United as a Young Designated Player in a club-record transfer deal. The last of four signings, Arriola has made 11 appearances for the US, including four that contributed to the winning of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and joins DC United from Club Tijuana.
Speaking at a press conference shortly after the transfer was announced, the player had this to say: “I had to look at all my goals, right? My short term, my medium term and my long term. When I looked at that, I think the plan that DC had for me, in talking with [GM Dave Kasper] specifically, it is what I was looking for. I think that makes it easy.”
