Francesca Rhydderch


Francesca Rhydderch’s debut novel, The Rice Paper Diaries, was longlisted for the Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award and won the Wales Book of the Year Fiction Prize in 2014.

In the same year she was shortlisted for the BBC National Short Story Award for her short story ‘The Taxidermist’s Daughter’.


Francesca has also written for the stage: her Welsh-language play ‘Cyfaill’, based on the life and work of writer Kate Roberts, toured nationally and was shortlisted in several categories for the Theatre Critics Wales Awards in 2015, including that of Best Playwright.


She is currently working on a collection of stories and a second novel.
