Sowerby Footwear announces partnership with Phil Vickery

British brand Sowerby Footwear has announced a new partnership with Phil Vickery MBE for 2014.

The men’s footwear specialist has teamed up with the former England rugby star and World Cup and MasterChef winner to promote its range of Dealer boots. Sowerby has been crafting its range of Dealer boots since 1927, before that the business fixed the boots of soldiers during WWI. A family business it is now run by Jo and her brother Jack, the third generation of Sowerbys to do so.

Said Phil: “I love the heritage Sowerby has as a business and the quality of the boots is outstanding. It’s rare to meet people like Jo who have such pride in what they do and are confident enough to put their name to it. When I first met with them it seemed a natural fit for us to work together as we share a lot of the same values. My own style is very ‘back to basics’ something Sowerby boots are perfect for, and the designs fit with what I do in my everyday life – whether I’m out in the countryside with my family, in the office for meetings or doing my charity work.”

Sowerby boots are crafted using the finest leather, with parts still hand-stitched as they would have been in 1927.

“I’ve been aware of the classic Dealer boot style for years thanks to my farming background,” said Phil. “And it’s certainly a style that’s built to last. I love the true British feel of the brand and it’s certainly rooted with qualities that are important to me – hard-wearing, reliable and smart with a rich heritage. The whole range is superb but I have to admit my favourite is the Stanton!”

Phil will be supporting Sowerby with the launch of its two new boots, The Camden and The Winchcombe, due in stores from this July.

Jo Sowerby, sales and marketing director, said: “We’re delighted to have Phil on board to promote Sowerby. He’s the epitome of the Sowerby gentleman – a country lover with business in the city, a man’s man who isn’t afraid to help out in the kitchen and a sports fan. As a family-run business for the last 100 years it was important to us to find someone we liked and that understood and loved the brand as much as we do. Luckily we found all that in Phil and we can’t wait to start working together during this exciting time.”
