Darren Fletcher is the lead commentator for BT Sport, providing insight and commentary across The Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.
As well as hosting The Friday Football Social on BBC Radio 5 Live, Darren can regularly be heard discussing another of his sporting passions, American Football, on the NFL podcast, The Fumble, with co-presenter Vernon Kay.
Darren has worked in football broadcasting since the age of 18, joining BBC Radio 5 Live’s main commentary team in 2004 where he worked for nine years. His long-term relationship with the station continues to this day.
He has commentated on two World Cups and two European Championships, as well as regular Premier League coverage, and has also been a presenter of the legendary 5 Live’s 606 phone-in alongside Robbie Savage.
Darren was part of the BBC team at the 2012 Olympic Games in London – covering the Boxing Tournament from start to finish with Steve Bunce, commentating on historic Gold medals for Nicola Adams, Luke Campbell and Anthony Joshua. In 2013 he left BBC to join BT Sport as lead commentator for their Premier League coverage .
Then, in 2014 he started presenting Fletch & Sav – a two-hour Saturday morning football show on BT Sport, again alongside his former Radio 5 live partner Robbie Savage. On the back of this Darren continued to work on BT Sport across the Premier League and the FA Cup and became the lead commentator of UEFA Champions League when BT acquired the rights in 2015. Over the last few years he continues to go from strength-to-strength commentating on high profile games such as the Champions League Final, FA Cup and Europa League.
