Biography
Award-winning journalist and author, Deborah Chu is working on her debut novel.
Deborah is a Taiwanese-Canadian journalist and author, currently based in Edinburgh. Her bylines have appeared in The Observer, The Scotsman, gal-dem, Fringe of Colour, Fest and The Skinny. In 2019, she received the Allen Wright Award for excellence in arts criticism, and in 2021 won the Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Award. Her short stories have been published in Gutter Magazine, and was commissioned by the Alasdair Gray Archive in 2023 to craft a creative response to Alasdair’s legacy.
Deborah is currently writing her first novel, a work of literary fiction which explores the limits of languages in the face of climate change, and the opportunities that arise when words fail us.
