Sara developed her passion for broadcasting at BBC Radio 1, where she presented the station’s Breakfast Show for four years and reached an audience of eight million listeners. She joined BBC Radio 2 in 2012 and went on to host Sounds of the 80s and the hugely popular weekday teatime show before taking over Breakfast in July 2026.
On television, Sara hosted seven series of BBC Two’s popular book programme Between the Covers and was a regular co-host of BBC One’s Morning Live. Her recent credits also include The Marvellous Miniatures Workshop, which was nominated for an RTS award, and Sara Cox: Every Step of the Way, which followed her extraordinary 135-mile endurance challenge for BBC Children in Need. Covering the equivalent of five marathons in five days, Sara raised an incredible £11.7 million for the charity.
Sara’s other BBC television credits include Back in Time…, The Great Pottery Throw Down, Love in the Countryside and Britain’s Top Takeaways. Her television career began with Channel 4’s The Girlie Show, and she has since presented numerous programmes for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
Sara is the author of the bestselling memoir Till the Cows Come Home and three novels. Her debut novel, Thrown, was published in 2022 and became a Sunday Times bestseller, followed by Way Back in 2024 and her latest novel, The Truth of Us, in July 2026. She has also written columns for the Mirror and The Guardian.
Sara lives with her family in North London and stays connected to her farming roots through her many pets and her horse, Nelly.
