Director, filmmaker, writer, and stylist Basma Khalifa is a Sudanese multi-disciplinary creative exploring the cultures, heritage, and sectors moulding our future society.
Basma is perhaps best known for her documentary Inside the Real Saudi Arabia: Why I had to Leave, earning her a nomination for best newcomer at the Edinburgh TV Festival. She has also filmed regular features on The One Show and Vice, featured on BBC News, CNN, Sky News, ITV News, and written for The Independent, The Guardian, British Vogue and The Times.
Basma has also directed various campaigns Facebook and Instagram centred around social issues and a short for Apple in collaboration with the Mayor of London.
Recently, Basma released a new short-form documentary on BBC Reel and has been working alongside BBC Studios to develop future documentary projects.
