Charlene has worked as a writer for the New York Post, a presenter for BBC Radio 1, BBC News Channel, BBC Five Live, BBC Three and currently hosts Loose Women. She was the first Black woman to present ITV News at Ten and uses her platform to educate children about race and racism, mentor aspiring journalists, and work alongside various organisations to achieve better representation of women and minorities in the industry.Charlene investigated what it means to be Black and British in her documentary Empire’s Child, delving into her Jamaican ancestry and its links to the British Empire. She co-hosted the notable documentary Has George Floyd Changed Britain? with Sir Trevor McDonald, exploring the impact George Floyd’s death had on people living in the UK. More recently, she took part in the 22nd series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, as well as a Loose Women Live regional tour across the UK.This year Charlene is nominated for a BAFTA, as part of the show Loose Women & Men, for Best Daytime Show, for the programme’s all Black panel special.Her debut novel There’s No Place Like Home will be published later this year.
